If you have plants, you may sometimes struggle to give them the right amount of water. When plants are watered too little, they can become dehydrated, and when they are watered too much, they can be damaged. This is especially a problem when people are busy or away from home.

This project is a solar-powered plant watering system that can be connected to a plant pot. It helps water plants automatically using a water pump controlled by a timer. The system is powered by a solar panel, which charges a battery to provide energy. This allows plants to be watered even when no one is home.

Supplies

Assemble the System

Connect all the components using wiring. First, connect the solar panel to the charge controller. Then connect the charge controller to the timer. Attach the timer to the water pump and the battery. Finally, connect two water tubes to the water pump, one for water intake and one for water output.

Set Up and Use the System

Place the solar panel in direct sunlight so it can charge the battery. Put one tube from the water pump into a container or reservoir filled with water. Place the other tube where you want the water to flow, such as into a plant pot. Set the timer based on how often and how much the plant needs watering.

Once everything is set up, the plant watering system is ready to use.
