How to Make DIY Mini Present Christmas Ornament!
In this tutorial, I made a cute and stylish mini present-looking Christmas tree ornament. I made it because I wanted to try coming up with something creative, and I wanted to share it with you all!
Supplies
Here are the supplies needed:
Cardboard
Scissors/cardboard cutter
Holiday ribbon (or just regular ribbon)
Wrapping paper
Rosemary leaves (optional)
Glue (hot glue or super glue* *what I used)
Tape
Cut Your Cardboard
The first step to making this ornament is to cut your cardboard to the correct dimensions. I cut mine to 3x3 inches, but any size that is a square works. I did cut mine a little off, but that is okay, because when you put on the wrapping paper, you can't tell.
Glue Your Give Base Together
The next step is to actually assemble your gift base or cardboard box. I used super glue, but hot glue also works. All you need to do is glue all the sides together into a cube, as you can see in the images above.
Wrap Your Cardboard
The third step is to wrap your cardboard box. First, cut some wrapping paper to about the size shown, or depending on the size of your cube. Then put the cube on top of it and roll the wrapping paper around the cube sideways as you can see in the image above. Then cut off a little on the sides and wrap the sides as shown in the other two photos above. When you get the wrapping on the sides to look good, tape it in place with clear tape.
Tie the Bow on Your Present
Next, you need to tie the bow on the present. First, get some holiday-themed or regular ribbon (whatever you like) and cut it to be as thin as you think will look good; you can use the images above as a reference. Then wrap the ribbon you cut around the gift. After you do that, hold down the ribbon on the side where the two ends of the ribbon meet and wrap the ribbon around the other side of the gift. Finally, glue the top of the ribbon to the gift so it holds on and tie a bow.
Add Extra Decoration (optional)
After you tie your ribbon, you just need one more step before the final step. This step is optional, but I could do it, so I did. The first thing you need is some rosemary leaves, or whatever they are called; I just cut them from the rosemary plant in my backyard, as you can see in the images above. Then all you need to do I either glue them to the top of the present or wedge them under the ribbon as it did.
Add the String That You Attach to the Tree
Finally, the last step is to add a string on which you hang the ornament to the tree. All you need to do is get some string (I just cut the ribbon thinner from earlier) and tie it to the bow in a loop, as you can see in the image above. Then all you have to do is hang it on your tree, and you are done!
