Crispy Vegan Potato Wedges : 11 Steps (with Pictures)
Today we are making Crispy Vegan Potato Wedges in oven. These Ultimate Oven Baked Vegan Crispy Potato Wedges are probably the best potato wedges you’ll ever make with this easy recipe.
Ingredients
1. Potatoes – 5 Medium
2. Olive Oil – 4 tablespoons
3. Cumin Powder – 2 Teaspoons
4. Turmeric Powder – 1/3rd Teaspoon
5. Black Pepper Powder – 1 Teaspoon
6. Red Chili Powder – 1 Teaspoon
7. Nutritional Yeast – 1 and half teaspoon
8. Salt – 1 and half teaspoon
9. Garlic Powder – 2 teaspoons
10. Oregano – 1 Teaspoon
11. Coriander for garnish - Optional
Take Medium or Large-sized Potatoes
Take around 5 medium or large-sized potatoes.
Slice the Potatoes
Slice them from the center length-wise, or at least in my case try. Place the knife in an inclined position and slice it at an angle. You will get the perfect shape. Slice all the other potatoes in the same fashion. Make sure you don’t slice them too thin as they will shrink a little after cooking.
Let’s Prepare the Spice Mix for Coating the Potatoes
To a bowl, add 3-4 tablespoons of oil, you can reduce the quantity of oil if you like. Add 2 teaspoons of cumin powder, 1/3rd teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of black pepper powder, 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1 and a half teaspoons of nutritional yeast, 1 and a half a teaspoon of salt or salt as per taste, 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, 1 a teaspoon of oregano or mixed herbs.
Mix Everything Well
You can always adjust the flavors as per your choice. If you don’t like to enjoy spicy, replace the red chili powder with paprika or remove it altogether.
Place all the potato wedges in a bowl and pour the spice mix on top of it.
Mix everything till the potato wedges are nicely coated with the mix and they are done.
Take a baking tray and add 1 teaspoon of oil and brush it across evenly.
Place the potato wedges on the tray preferably on their back and that way they get cooked evenly. Make sure to add all the spice mix to the potatoes. I am adding the leftover one.
Then place the tray in a preheated oven for 40-45 minutes over 180 C or till they get crispy. It’s time to take the crispy potato wedges out of the oven, look at them, and they smell incredible. Serve them as a side dish or as a starter with some fancy sauces and everyone will love it. Because of the nutritional yeast, they will also have some cheesy flavor.
They are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and so flavorful because of the spices. I love them with some spicy chutney or plain and simple ketchup. I have also added some chopped coriander as a garnish to add some color.
