CINDER BLOCK PLANTER – Easy and Beautiful
Cinder block planters are an easy, affordable, and creative way to bring life to any space. With simple materials and a bit of imagination, ordinary construction blocks can be transformed into a beautiful, functional vertical garden full of character.
This project is accessible to anyone, even without prior experience, and it encourages reuse, space optimization, and creative design. Whether for a patio, garden, or terrace, cinder block planters are a great option to combine nature and design in a practical way.
In this guide, you will learn step by step how to build your own cinder block planters, inviting you to create, experiment, and refresh your environment with your own hands
Supplies
Materials
- 52 concrete blocks (20 cm)
- 22 concrete blocks (10 cm)
- 2 buckets of black soil
- 1 shovel
- Plants of your choice
Prepare the Area
Clean the area well before starting. The space must be clearly designated before beginning the project. The example shown here uses an area 3.6 m long.
Once the area is defined, it is very important to level the ground if it is not already flat. This will ensure stability and a better final result.
It is recommended to wear gloves when carrying the concrete blocks to avoid injuries.
Build the Structure
To assemble the structure, we will follow the guide provided, which is easy to understand and follow.
Always make sure to place the concrete blocks securely and evenly leveled. Use gloves and safety boots if necessary to ensure safe handling during the process.
Block Arrangement 2
Always follow the guide and place the blocks marked in color step by step.
Block Arrangement 3
At this point, be careful with the blocks due to the height at which they are placed. Take extra precautions and, if possible, ask for help.

Adding Soil and Plants
We will place black soil in all the openings you prefer. Keep in mind that the openings with a 10 cm block underneath are designed to be used as planters.
Adding Soil and Plants
The plants you choose to place are perfect; it all depends on the client’s preference.
