100% Stab Safe Trainer Knife

This is how I make a martial arts training knife that is 100% safe to practice with and durable enough to withstand repeated use as can be seen on YouTube. It is made completely out of commonly available materials and is safer then other training knifes made of rubber or wood.

Polyethylene packing foam sheet (found in clothing stores), penknife, medium tape roll, wide tape roll, coloured tape roll,

Put long strips of the wide clear tape onto the polyethylene sheet. The strips must be at least as long as the final knife and the tape should cover a continuos area over least 4 knifes wide. This is to make the final knife durable enough for reapeated hard use without hardening it and making it less safe.

Use your template to trace out the shapes of the knife and handle as shown. Trace the knife twice and the handle twice as well. Both the knife and the handle tracings should face each other.

Using your penknife, cut out the tracings you made of the knifes and handles.

The handle should be 2 sheets thick, and the blade 4 sheets.

Use two strips of medium width tape to join the handle together.

Use a strip of thick tape and put it along the back of the blade, and handle, then cut into it where the blade bends, and fold it over the back of the blade.

Attach the colour tape to the blade of the knife as shown. For this build I had run out of the normal black polyethylene tape I normally use and used green electric tape instead.

Making each of these knives by hand will take at least 20 minutes, and there is always the concern that you might not have the supplies to make them conveniently.
